Christmas

It’s over for another year. We had a wonderful Christmas with my Mom and Uncle, plus cousins and their families. We ate WAY too much. Back on the diet tomorrow! We’re not waiting for the new year.

Jason always makes dinner for Mom & my Uncle and we take it up to them each Sunday. He’s become quite a cook. For the second Christmas in a row, he cooked the turkey. This year it was a whopping 24 pounds. He did an excellent job and it was juicy and tasty. Everyone loved it. We have to give credit to our friend Topper in Wisconsin for the recipe. Thanks Jay! (Two turkeys pictured below :)

Jason got adventurous and thought he could make Mom some cookies which he had never attempted. They were amazing. He did two kinds and spent two evenings making them. He also had never tried to bake a pie before. He settled on two, a chocolate cream pie with graham cracker/Oreo crumb crust and then he made the most amazing apple pie I have ever eaten. He was so worried that the pie wouldn’t come out ok and wanted to cut into it to test it before taking it up home for Christmas. I assured him it would be just fine, and it lived up to my expectations. Not only was it yummy, it looked good. (Actual pie pic below)

See what I mean? Betcha would like a slice with some ice cream! Jason is already planning to make his famous lasagna for New Year’s Eve when we have family over for dinner and a game night.

So, Santa found us. I’m typing on my new wireless keyboard/mouse and Jason is enjoying his Wii and several games. Tonight it doesn’t feel like Christmas is over. It has turned very mild, there’s dense fog and freezing rain is in the forecast. Temperatures tomorrow will be near 50! The weather has been so strange this winter! But… our vacation in Florida is only a month and a half away and we’re ready for some sun and fun.

We hope you all had a save and happy Christmas with your family and that 2009 is prosperous for everyone. Good health and Good friends!

My New Toy

For Christmas, I bought myself a scanner that will do negatives and slides. I was digging though my desk and found some negatives. They were of our Civil Union which was done in Vermont at the home of our good friends Mongo & Ivan. Jason and I met in the summer of 1997, held a Commitment Ceremony at our home in January 1998, the  Civil Union in 2001, then, when it finally became legal for us to marry in Canada, we did so on August 12, 2005. These pics from that beautiful spring day on a Vermont mountain top brought back some wonderful memories for me. I thought I’d share them with you. My, didn’t we look much younger.

Grover (our baby)

Grover is our 7 year old tabby tomcat. He’s a runt for his age and loves lots of attention. We made this short video of him doing his impression of a dog. Enjoy…
